SIGNING SESSION 03/09 @ FILM & MUSIC FAIR
COME AND SEE!
One of the reasons to visit the BUT Film Festival is the guests! Saturday the 3th from 16:00 to 17:30, you can meet our guests and come to the signing opportunity. For the people who don't own DVD's or promotional material, NO WORRIES: we will provide them in our store.
Let me introduce the guests:
ENZO CASTELLARI is our main guest. This iconic cult filmmaker knows how to make a master piece with a small budget. In the 70s and 80s, he made some exploitation films. He is mostly known for the films Inglorious Bastards, Keoma, 1990: The Bronx Warrors and Cold Eyes of Fear. Quentin Tarantino gave the film Inglorious Basterds a tribute by using this title for his film Inglorious Basterds in 2009. Enzo was given a role in this film.
This year, JULIA OSTERTAG - who won at several film festivals, will have her world premiere at the BUTFF with the film film Dark Circus. Julia is a director, cinematographer, editor en and has her own ‘one-woman-film production’ company. She is known for her experimental films and focusses on subcultures, music, alternative lifestyles and the female sexuality.
JOHAN VANDEWOESTIJNE aka James Desert (Belgium), a cultfilmmaker from Kortrijk is not afraid of some controversy! Best known for his films Lucker the Necrophagous (1986) and Rabid Grannies (1988). Now he is back with his highly anticipated flick Laundry Man (2016). From the looks of the first teaser trailer, this film will surely live up to its expectations. Johan is already active for over 30 years and to celebrate his work we are going (amongst other things) to show a retrospective of his very best.
Author/scriptwriter VANESSA MORGAN, is known as the 'female version of Stephen King'. Three of her works (A Good Man, Next to Her, The Strangers Outside) have been turned into films. Her first horror movie reference guide – When Animals Attack: the 70 Best Horror Movies with Killer Animals – will be out later this year. When she's not working on her latest book or screenplay, you can find her reading, attending international film festivals, or photographing felines for her blog Traveling Cats.
KASPER JUHL got his first camera at the age of 8 and has since been passionate about making films. He's known as the founder of controversial independent film company Hellbound Productions, where he has directed, written and produced several horror films. In 2013 he went to The European Film College to study. He has since written and directed the feature film Gudsforladt (english title: A God Without A Universe) which premiered last year on CPH:PIX film festival and won the Best Feature award at last year's BUT Film Festival.
About eight years ago, JEROEN BIJL started his YouTube channel called 'Horrible Reviews'. This channel is mostly dedicated to reviewing all kinds of B-horror, exploitation and cultcinema, which he started when he got himself more and more into these genre films, but couldn't really share this love with the friends in his close surroundings. Now, eight years later, the channel has a little over 100,000 subscribers and he keeps providing the viewers with both obscure and some more well known movies and filmmakers in a both entertaining and informative manner.
